My name is Caroline Li, and I am a rising sixth grader from Montgomery County, Maryland. My musical journey began at the age of 7 when I began studying piano with Mrs. Sanqing Lu Bennaman. I have learned many aspects of piano technique and expressions through Mrs. Bennaman’s lessons. I am able to see that I am deeply immersed in music, which nurtures my growing passion for piano. Since January 2023, I was given the opportunity to perform piano pieces at Brookdale Senior Center, where I strongly felt a connection with people. They loved hearing my friends and me playing the instruments and sing. So often they came to me asking questions about my piano learning experience, background information of the pieces, and even sometimes they sang melodies while I was playing. Their emotional responses showed me how powerful musical can be for seniors.
I am looking forward to bringing more beautiful piano pieces to the community, as I believe music would change lives among generations.
